CHAPTER 7 & 13 BANKRUPTCY

Chapter 7 - $1300.00 (includes court filing fee)
Chapter 13 - $600.00 down* + $310.00(court filing fee)

If your expenses are greater than your income, and you cannot pay your bills, bankrutpcy allows you to reorganize your finances by filing either a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy case. You can then make a "fresh start." Bankruptcy was created by the Federal Government to allow individuals to make a "fresh start" by eliminating most, or all of their debts.
Chapter 7 allows you to eliminate all of your debts.Chapter 13 provides a means for you to repay part or all of your debts over a three-to-five year period.

Listed below is some of the information you will need to compile in order to start the process.

You can obtain the pre-bankruptcy filing credit counseling certificate by contacting a consumer credit counseling service approved to offer that service.
The United States Trustee is in charge of bankrutpcy, and the U.S. Trustee maintains a list of credit counselors approved to offer the pre-bankrutpcy filing credit counseling session. To access the list of approved credit counselors, you can go directly to the U.S. Trustee's website at www.usdoj.gov/ust/bapcpa. US Trustee. You can then click on "credit counselors." This will take you to the list of approved credit counselors. The list is divided by state.
Go to the Ohio part of the list if you are located in Ohio. Ohio is divided into two halves, the northern half and the southern half.
If you live in or around the Columbus and central or southern Ohio area, you are probably located in the "Southern District of Ohio."
(You can consult the Venue Locator on the homepage of my website for a list of counties included in the Southern District of Ohio.)
Once you are in the correct part of the list, you can then select a credit counselor from the list and go directly to that credit counselor's website.
You can then start the process. When you have completed the pre-bankruptcy filing session, the credit counselor will issue you a certificate.
That is the certificate that is needed prior to filing a case. The credit counselors generally charge between $30.00 and $75.00 to complete the pre-bankruptcy
credit counseling session. If you have questions about bankruptcy, or this procedure, you can contact me at Donald Wood
